Devised and created by Rebecca at her Edinburgh Studio. Her artistic practice embraces her knowledge of two separate disciplines, combining maths and art to create very unique and fascinating artistic statements.

Identifying woodland habitats through tree bark markings. Using data from a European dataset describing protected areas and conservation sites, these trees are made up of the 494 sites that contain woodland. Each tree represents a different country (Wales, England and Scotland from left to right) and the bark markings identify the location of these sites (north to south from top to bottom and west to east from left to right). The height of each mark indicates the overall size of the site and the width of across the trunk illustrates what proportion of each site is made up of woodland habitat.
